Eligibility for Navajo Small Business Relief Grant
To qualify for the Navajo Artisan Relief Grant, artists and artisans must meet the following criteria:

Must have revenue under $100,000 or will have to apply as Small Business.

Artistic Medium or Discipline: Individual should be organized as an artist in a specific medium or discipline in art or performance.

Navajo Nation Membership: Individual must be an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

Commitment to Craft: Individuals must demonstrate a sustained commitment to your artistic work, career, and engagement with the public.

Financial Hardship: Be facing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Age Requirement: Be at least 18 years of age.

Independently Owned and Operated: Your artistic venture should be independently owned and operated.
Ensuring that you meet these criteria is essential when applying for the Navajo Artisan Relief Grant.
To be eligible for Navajo Small Business Relief Grant, your business must meet the following criteria:

Financial Hardship: Your business must have faced financial challenges due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Ownership: The business should be organized for profit and be at least 51% owned by a member enrolled in the Navajo Nation.

Establishment Date: Your business must have been in operation before April 10, 2022.

Revenue: The annual revenues of your business should be less than $3,000,000.

Employee Count: The business must have 500 employees or fewer. Each individual employee, including owners, is considered one employee for this count.

Registration: Your business should be registered, certified, or in the process of being certified or re-certified under the Navajo Business Regulatory Department or Navajo Business Registration.

No Previous Reimbursement: Your business should not have received reimbursement from any other Federal program, CARES Act disaster relief programs (like the Paycheck Protection Program), or any other Navajo assistance program.

Debts: If you owe delinquent debts to the Navajo Nation for taxes, non-rental related debts, rental-related debts, or other related loan obligations, contact the respective offices.

Required documents for Navajo Small Business Applicants:

Proof of a submitted application for registration to be included on the Navajo Nation Business Registration List as published by the Navajo Business Regulatory Department, if not previously registered or Certificate of Good Standing under the Corporation Code as applicable.

Required Documents for all applicants requesting $10,000 or greater:

Certificate of Incorporation or Articles of Incorporation, other similar business formation documents, or other legal documents with the official business address.

2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023 Business Tax Return (all pages, no redactions).

Disclosure full-time and part-time employees as of March 1, 2020 (e.g. Payroll Register for closest period to this date).

The items listed above are the required documentation you will need to submit if you are eligible for assistance under this economic Relief Fund. We reserve the right to request additional documentation (e.g. past or future invoices for expenditures incurred) as deemed necessary based on specific details of your application. Maximum of two (2) per household, per grant. Proof of mailing address and other documentation may be required to substantiate the grant request.
